The coronavirus pandemic of 2020 has taken the healthcare systems of the most advanced countries by surprise, and further underlined the powerlessness of mankind in the face of impending disasters and its unpreparedness for them. The panic and hysteria that has engulfed the entire world clearly prove the weakness of the achievements of modern man in times of great upheaval.
Where are we headed? And what awaits us?
Despite the endless stream of terrible news in all the media and the despondency caused by it, I personally believe that this crisis is far from the end of the world. There will be life again after the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it is naive to think that no similar situation or something even worse will come into the world. Again, my personal feeling is that, no matter how terrible it is now, the Lord will again show mercy to us, show us His long-suffering and deliver us from this disease. I believe that normal life will soon return after this turmoil. But what does the future hold? Where are we headed?
According to biblical prophecies, the further we go, the worse it will get. The world is going to face much more serious disasters.
But even now, we are witnessing what Jesus said about the world’s response to the coming disasters.
‘men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world…’

Everything will soon be forgotten
However, the pandemic may stop this time, and many people’s lives will go back to the «old rut.» Unfortunately, most people will forget everything that came to pass during these terrible days. They will forget how the miserable virus made them tremble with fear and shun one other like the plague. People will start behaving with confidence again, as if they are able to run their own lives and keep everything under their control. But the wise will understand how powerless humanity is in the face of many things and how fragile our life is.
For many who, by God’s grace, are able to survive this crisis, life will not be the same. I am quite sure that reasonable people are already beginning to think about how to find real security in this life. Let me say this: if you are among those who are confident that the bread, soap and toilet paper you bought will be sufficient this time or in the future in case of another pandemic, then you can stop reading this post. Perhaps, you will keep building your sand fortress, without agreeing with what I’m going to say. But if you are seriously thinking about how to find something more reliable than stocks of the above-listed provisions, then read on.
The enemy is not a virus
Here is the truth: most people won’t die from the coronavirus, but one day, they will die from something else. The enemy is not a virus. The enemy is death. In fact, it’s not the fear of the COVID-19 coronavirus that has sent people into panic and hysteria, but the fear of dying from it. Yes, the fear of death haunts the human race, not only in times of serious disaster, but also all the days of their life. And the only Person who can free a person from panic fear is Jesus Christ.
He became like us and shared our human nature, “so that through his death he might destroy the Devil, who has the power over death, and in this way set free those who were slaves all their lives because of their fear of death,” Hebrews 2:14-15 (GNB).
Christ gives eternal life to all those who truly believe in Him. He gives us a true sense of security, genuine confidence, and peace. Sin has made man vulnerable to death. But Jesus can forgive your sins and free you from all the consequences of sin.
Are you ready?
Are you ready for the coming catastrophes?
Don’t rely on yourself, on your achievements, riches, or opportunities. They won’t help. Trust Christ with your life. In simple, sincere words, pray and surrender your life to Him, right now. He will hear you!
‘because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, «Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.»
