A tribute to a godly mother
Her children arise up, and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously,
but thou excellest them all.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain:
but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
Proverbs 31:28-30 (KJV)
Joanna Acquah (a.k.a Ekua Akom )
She was a mother indeed. A mother in millions. We do not believe there is any one word defined adequately enough to express her love, warmness, kindness, and sacrifices for us.
Today, June 1, exactly nine years ago, she was called to be with our Lord.
A God-fearing widow who wants the best for all her five children. She loved us equally and labored to see us through and also instilled the fear of God in us all. She woke up every morning with singing hymns and made us all naturally inherited singing. She could sing almost all the hymns in the Methodist Hymm Book.
She was a woman of integrity and even though she did not have a formal education, made sure that we all had the best of education. She was so intelligent and wise. She always was reading her Bible or one fanti literature. She taught us how to read fanti.
We also remember her hard-work and sense of humor even when she is stressed up.
She was principled and a disciplinarian whose rod was not far from her because she believed in not “sparing the rod and spoiling the child.
We also recollect how neat and smart you were. You had a large heart and always welcome our friends and neighbours. We thank you for the way you brought us up. We owe it all to you. It’s so painful that you didn’t stay to receive to the fullest the appreciation of our love, but we know that where you are now is far better.
Thank you. Mama.
Till we meet again
Da yie.
